The elbow is an imported hinge joint. It has supporting ligaments, tendons and multiple muscles that cross the joint to allow excellent range of movement. The most common elbow conditions are shown below. At shoulder, elbow hand, we provide an efficient one-stop service to allow accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Most elbow conditions can be managed with simple measures in the early stages. When surgery is required, minimal invasive techniques and accelerated rehabilitation are used to promote a speedy recovery.
Secondary to sight the wrist and hand performs important sensory functions. The wrist and hand consist of over 20 bones and joints. These are stabilized by ligaments and muscles, which are supported by nerves which helps control fine intricate movements. The wrist and hand are extremely delicate and is extremely important that all structures were together in harmony.
The common conditions seen are carpal tunnel syndrome, dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, base of thumb arthritis, de Quervain's tenosynovitis, arthritis, wrist and hand fractures. Over the last 10-15 years, there has been an increase in repetitive strain injuries.
A careful assessment detailed examination will be performed to find out how your hand disorder affects you as an individual. It is important that I learn about you so that together we can decide the best treatment. We employ accelerated rehabilitation working in close conjunction with physiotherapy and hand therapy to maximize recovery and reduce time away from work and social activities.
